In the modern age an insurance agent ideally needs to be an all-round expert: an expert in underwriting, claims, protections, technology, finance, the capital market, investments, legislative issues and much more, and unfortunately this is not possible. As opposed to mega-insurance agencies that employ whole teams of professional staff in the various fields of commercial insurance, the average insurance agent who does not have such resources quite often lacks sufficient professional knowledge and capability to deal with complex and major risks, even though he does have the basic commercial tools (personal contacts, family connections etc.). In such cases, the small agent is at an inherent disadvantage when attempting to enter the commercial and industrial sector and in practice the majority of these accounts are indeed concentrated between several mega-insurance agencies.
Our firm provides the smaller agent with professional advice and ongoing, one-off or ad-hoc support in handling major and complex accounts, when liaising with the client, the insurance company or the client’s insurance consultant (if there is indeed such a consultant), to assist him in closing the deal (in the case of new business) or renewing or reviewing the account (in the case of existing business).
